Wheat Rx Programs Planned for Hays and Wichita – August 12 & 13
Kansas Wheat and K-State Research and Extension will host two free Wheat Rx educational programs in August to help producers prepare for the upcoming winter wheat season. The first program will be held on Tuesday, August 12, at the LB Event Center in Hays, followed by a second program on Wednesday, August 13, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Airport in Wichita. A livestream option will also be available for the Wichita program with advance registration. Both events will begin at 8:30 a.m. with registration and end at 1:40 p.m.
These Wheat Rx programs provide the latest research-based recommendations for profitable wheat production and management. Topics will include conservation opportunities through a new National Fish and Wildlife Foundation grant project, improving wheat profitability, precision agriculture strategies, and the latest recommendations for wheat disease management. Participants will also learn about an upcoming grower network designed to strengthen on-farm decision-making.
Certified Crop Adviser (CCA) continuing education credits will be available in several categories, including Soil & Water, Crop Production, Nutrient Management, Pest Management, and 1A.
Both programs are free to attend and include coffee, donuts, and lunch. Registration is encouraged.

Wheat Rx is a partnership between Kansas Wheat and K-State Research and Extension to disseminate the latest research recommendations for high-yielding and high-quality wheat to Kansas wheat farmers. In addition to educational events like these seminars, Wheat Rx includes a series of Extension publications and other educational resources designed to address key management areas of hard red winter wheat production. These publications feature the latest research data funded in part by Kansas wheat farmers through the Kansas Wheat Commission's two-cent wheat assessment, providing producers with practical recommendations they can apply in their own operations.
