Remotely accessing lab computers
To assist with online learning, remote access to computers in the Department of Agronomy has been made available temporarily.
Remote lab computers are available from 6 a.m. to Midnight daily.
Step 1. Install Microsoft Remote Desktop if needed
If you have a Windows computer, you already have Remote Desktop Connection installed. For Macs, iOS and Android devices, and Chromebooks, install the client app from Microsoft’s Remote Desktop clients webpage if you don’t already have the app. You only need to install the app and can skip the set up instructions.
Step 2. Connect to the K-State VPN
Follow the instructions on the K-State VPN webpage to set up and connect to the K-State VPN. Please note that the old VPN client, Cisco AnyConnect, is not supported.
Step 3. Connect to a lab computer
Select any available computer from the Remote Computer Lab and click Connect. Once the remote connection file downloads, click the file to open. If a security warning appears, click Connect on the prompt.
When prompted, enter your username as users\161-agr and password as Agronomy for your password. You may need to click “More options” to see the username field. If you are getting an invalid login error, make sure you’ve entered your username as shown above.
Important notes: When using a lab computer, remember you are saving on the remote computer, not your local computer. You must upload your files to OneDrive regularly. Any files left once you restart or disconnect will be lost.
Please do not reuse the remote connection files. If you need to use a computer again, always select a computer from the list of available computers.
Please restart the computer using the shortcut on the desktop when you are finished.
