Assistant Scientist, Forage Production/Cropping Systems:
The successful candidate will coordinate daily activities of the forage production and cropping systems research programs. The primary focus will be on preparing and performing field plot research at university’s experiment stations and on producers’ fields, including operation and maintenance of field plot research equipment (e.g. planters, drills, forage harvester, combines, sprayers, etc.), and other specialized research equipment. The candidate also will be responsible for preparation of seed for planting, forage quality analysis equipment, agronomic dry lab and equipment and upkeep, grain and plant sample preparation and processing, data entry, overseeing greenhouse and growth chamber experiments, and supervision of hourly student workers. The assistant scientist will report to the cropping systems and forage faculty. The candidate must be able to work in a multi-cultural setting and create an environment that fosters collegiality, diversity and teamwork.
